Railways will be strict on those who travel in train by taking waiting tickets from the window, penalty will be imposed
RAILWAY NEWS : The issue of passengers boarding reserved coaches with waiting tickets has prompted Indian Railways to adopt stricter measures to regulate train travel effectively. In a recent move by Western Railways, all ticket checking squads have been reinstated on trains to enforce adherence to railway travel rules, especially concerning the use of waiting tickets.
Until now, passengers with a confirmed seat in any class of service were allowed to board trains, often resulting in overcrowding beyond permissible limits in sleeper and AC coaches. This practice not only compromised passenger comfort but also raised safety concerns. To address this, the Railways has decided to impose penalties on passengers found traveling in reserved coaches with waiting tickets. This step aims to streamline passenger flow and ensure those with confirmed tickets can travel comfortably without inconvenience.
In recent days, there has been a significant increase in complaints related to passenger facilities, highlighting the need for stricter enforcement of travel regulations. Previously, passengers would use special category waiting counters to obtain tickets and would board trains even if their status remained on the waiting list after confirmation of one PNR. Consequently, sleeper and AC coaches would often exceed their designated capacities, causing discomfort to passengers.
In response, Indian Railways discontinued its checking squads temporarily on June 18, but has since reinstated them to ensure that passengers can travel comfortably according to their assigned seats. This measure underscores the Railways’ commitment to enhancing passenger convenience and safety while maintaining the integrity of its ticketing system.
For travelers, this development emphasizes the importance of securing confirmed tickets to avoid penalties and ensure a smooth journey on Indian Railways. For more information on ticketing rules and updates, passengers are encouraged to refer to official railway websites or contact customer service for clarification.
